The beauty of s2design’s (ova) lounge and ottoman is Sean J. Scott’s take on less is more.
In his creations less waste is more design. In more detail he uses a design process where he merges technology with efficiency and sustainability. The pieces for the furniture are made out of multiple separate flat parts, cut from Baltic birch plywood that are then stacked horizontally to create his gorgeous organic shapes. He uses a CNC (computer numerically controlled) router, which reduces the time for the cutting process. With this method he manages to create both pieces of furniture out of 2.5 sheets of plywood.
Equally impressive is his YHF collection. The (yhf) bar stool is made out of just one sheet of plywood. Both collections use a water-based finish. Currently they can also be found in Michelle Kaufmann’s mkSolaire™ at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry.
